If you’re running a search in Recruiting Copilot and not seeing any candidates, don’t worry! There are a few simple adjustments you can make to improve your results. Follow the steps below to optimize your search.
Confirm Your Search Basics
Before making adjustments, double-check that your search includes:
- A clear Job Title (e.g., "Software Engineer" instead of "Tech Wizard")
- A specific Location
- An appropriate Search Radius (default is often 25 miles)
Expand the Location Radius
If your search area is too narrow, you may miss great candidates. To widen your search:
- Increase the Location Radius to 50 miles, 100 miles, or even more.
- In the search setup screen, adjust the radius dropdown under the Location section.
Tip: A larger radius often uncovers a broader talent pool.
Loosen or Remove Filters
Too many filters can overly restrict your search. To adjust:
- Open the Advanced menu.
- Review filters like Skills, Years of Experience, Company Size, or Industry.
- Remove or broaden one filter at a time to see if candidates appear.
Example:
If you selected very specific skills, try removing one to widen the results.
Adjust Keywords and Skills
Specific keywords can unintentionally block matches. We recommend:
- Starting with broader or more general skills.
- Refining your search later once you see a good candidate pool.
Example:
Instead of “HubSpot Marketing Specialist,” try “Marketing Specialist.”
Search for Remote Candidates
Looking nationally? You can find remote candidates by:
- Entering “Remote” in the Location field.
This allows you to source candidates across the country who are open to remote roles.
Still Not Seeing Candidates?
If none of the adjustments above return candidates:
- Try using a different Job Title variation.
- Broaden or remove Industry or Skill filters.
